ELTHAM HIGH SCHOOL ANTHOLOGY
Alsop Lane
April Harrison 2017
Bad Dreams
Nightmares, consume your mind,
Whilst in them, there’s no place to hide.
They torment the guilty and the innocent,
Playing scaring songs, on a small stringed instrument.
They share your deepest darkest fears,
While down your face run many tears.
You wake, startled, scared and alone,
Unsure of what’s in the night, you freeze like cold stone.
No measure of light can defeat the darkness,
All that surrounds you is deep blackness.
You are not able to run free,
Trapped in a locked room, without the key.
You lay there still, not a gleam in your eye,
While inside your mind, you slowly die…
